Steps of Lymphatic Drainage Using a Vibration Plate

Nancy Chan |

For the past ten or so years, the vibration platform exercise machine has been gaining popularity among fitness enthusiasts and health-conscious people. It is often referred to as the body vibration machine or the vibration platform, and this unique piece of equipment has been linked to numerous benefits. According to the scientific evidence, the regular use of the vibration machine leads to stronger muscles, denser bones, better circulation, boosted immunity, and reduced body fat. But the list of health benefits does not end there. Apart from the abovementioned benefits, the vibration platform exercise machine has also been linked to accelerated physical recovery, reduced chronic pain and active aging. In this article however, we are going to focus on another possible health aspect of this fitness equipment, namely the use of the vibration platform exercise machine for lymphatic drainage. If you want to know what to do, please read on. I will explain in detail how to use a vibration platform exercise machine for lymphatic drainage in the following article.

What is a vibration platform exercise machine?
Although you may have never used the vibration platform exercise machine, you have definitely seen it or at least heard of it. The vibration platform exercise machine is an exercise machine that can send high-speed vibration through all muscles of your body. It is designed to stimulate your muscles at a higher speed than normal. Normally, your muscles will contract and relax once or twice per second, but the multi-directional vibration of vibration platform exercise machine will transfer energy to your body, thus stimulating your muscles. This kind of stimulation will force your muscles to contract and relax 30 to 50 times per second. The vibration platform exercise machine was originally designed by Russian astronauts in 1960s to prevent astronauts from losing muscle mass in weightlessness in space. The vibration plate has many benefits. Whether you want to lose weight, increase your muscle power or strengthen your bones, it is at your disposal.

What is lymphatic drainage?
The human body consists of various systems, each with its unique functionality. Most of us have heard of the cardiovascular system, the skeletal system, or the nervous system. These are popular and we read about them often. Another vital but less popular system is the lymphatic system (LS). It is as important as the blood or immune system. The lymphatic system consists of a complex network of vessels, nodes and lymph and is linked to the immune system. The lymph is a type of liquid that flows through the lymphatic vessels scavenging bacteria and pathogens in the body and taking them to the lymph nodes for destruction. Unfortunately, it lacks its own pumping mechanism, therefore it relies heavily on the proper functioning of other organs and tissues. Due to unhealthy eating, lack of physical activity and harmful lifestyle habits, the amount of toxins and pathogens in the lymphatic system may rise above the safety levels. This, in its turn, may clog up the lymphatic system and lead to a number of pathological conditions, such as IBS, weak immunity, multiple sclerosis, and obesity. In such circumstances, the health specialists recommend lymphatic drainage—a type of noninvasive physical procedure that opens the lymphatic vessels and aids the flow of the lymph fluid. One of the best ways to achieve that is by the use of the vibrating exercise machine. The higher frequency of the mechanical oscillations pass through the neuromuscular system and promote the muscles to contract at rates that are up to 50 times faster than the rates achieved by conventional exercise.

How to use a vibration platform exercise machine for lymphatic drainage?
So, let’s see how to use a vibration platform exercise machine for lymphatic drainage. Below is an easy-to-follow 10-step exercise program for lymphatic drainage, performed on the body vibration platform exercise machine. The following program requires only 10–15 minutes and should be performed once a week for best results. If you are using the vibration machine for the first time, you can start at a lower frequency and increase steadily as you progress. Furthermore, in the beginning you can take short breaks between the steps, until fully confident with the vibrations.

Step 1: Stand on the vibration plate with your legs slightly spread for 2 minutes at a frequency of 8Hz.

Step 2: Stand with your torso slightly bent over for 1 minute at a frequency of 15Hz.

Step 3: Stand with your knees slightly bent for 1 minute at a frequency of 18Hz.

Step 4: Sit on the plate for 2 minutes at a frequency of 12Hz.

Step 5: Stand with your torso bent to one side for 1 minute at a frequency of 22Hz.

Step 6: Place your calves on the plate for 1–2 minutes at a frequency of 18Hz.

Step 7: Place your quads on the plate for 1–2 minutes at a frequency of 18Hz.

Step 8: Place your hamstrings on the plate for 1–2 minutes at a frequency of 15Hz.

Step 9: Perform a plank position with your arms straight and palms on the plate for 1–2 minutes at a frequency of 8Hz.

Step 10: Sit on your glutes for 1–2 minutes at a frequency of 15Hz.

The lymphatic system is a complex network of lymph nodes and vessels filled with lymph. It acts as the human body’s waste removal agent. Unfortunately, the system lacks its pumping mechanism and can easily be clogged, due to poor lifestyle habits and lack of physical activity. Luckily, with the help of the vibration plate, you can now perform lymphatic drainage and bring the function of your lymphatic system back to normal. Before you hop on the plate though, make sure you follow the instructions, prepare your body accordingly, and drink plenty of water. Train safely!
